*20 years experience as a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, plus 22 years as a USA Weightlifting Certified Coach.
*Taught school for 17 years (9 of those in physical education) and coached a plethora of sports at the middle school level, in addition to high school JV basketball.
*Coached the Weston Weightlifting Club in Cazenovia, WI, for 9 years after coaching the Westside School Weightlifting Club in Thermal, CA, for 2 years. Weston lifters placed 1st, 3rd, and 4th at the AAU Junior Olympics, and 7th and 4th at the USA Weightlifting Youth Nationals.
*Although very much an average joe, competed in powerlifting in my early 30's, and Olympic-style weightlifting at the local, state, and national levels (masters division -- i.e. "older folks") from my late 30's to mid 40's.
*44 years of working out in one form or another, focusing on bodybuilding and powerlifting in my teens, 20's, and early 30's. At the age of 36 I began "Olympic-style" weightlifting.
Having dealt with genetically-based circulatory problems, surgery-induced nerve impairment, eye problems, and the debilitating effects of Lyme Disease, I have a great appreciation of training for a strong, healthy body and the challenges people face in achieving that goal!
*My personal experiences have helped me better serve clients with a wide variety of issues that make safe and effective training a challenge. Being an older and experienced trainer helps me personalize training for people with physical limitations, as well as those seeking a high level of performance.
*Clients' issues/abilities have included elderly, severe arthritis, multiple sclerosis, polio, and amputations, as well as healthy young athletes preparing for gymnastics, soccer, basketball, softball, and college football. It is a joy seeing clients overcome obstacles and reach greater levels of fitness and performance!
